How Does a Caterpillar Turn into a Butterfly?

A caterpillar makes a complete transformation to turn into a butterfly.  It literally digests itself, releasing enzymes to dissolve all of its tissues, before groups of cells grow into all the body parts of the future butterfly.

What starts as only 50 cells can increase to more than 50,000 cells by the end of the metamorphosis.

Butterflies and caterpillars don't just look different, they behave different too.  One lives in trees and eats leaves while the other flies and feeds on nectar.  The entire being of the organism has changed.

Here is one video showing the transformation.   http://www.wimp.com/monarchbutterfly/

I am drawn the the images of the caterpillar and the butterfly because I am helping my clients transform on a cellular level into something completely different too.
